National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Dublin Core
Title
Description
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. According to the Department of Homeland Security, cybersecurity is not just the military or government's job; it's the citizens responsibility as well. This awareness month started in October 2004. While many people are not informed of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the immediacy of disseminating information will probably increase in the coming years.
The purpose of NCSAM is for each individual to educate their family, peers and community about the importance of how to personally make online activities safe from cyber attacks. If everyone (including businesses) protect their networks, then hopefully our nation's infrastructure will be stronger. The NCAM is used in the Get Involved Collection. Awareness can only happen though micro and macro dissemination.
