Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986
Description
Established in 1986, this act amends the Federal criminal code by changing certain terms and definitions. When it comes to accessing computer files of another, the word "knowingly" changed to "intentionally." Also, the definition of "financial institution" was changed to include any financial records (including large and small businesses).
Further, this law creates new criminal offenses which include property theft by computer, altering, damaging or destorying informatoin in a Federal interest computer and trafficking in computer access passwords.
