Introduced July 25, 2009, this bill became law in 2006. It gives the Federal Trade Commission Act (FCC) several tasks. This law expands the definition of "unfair or deceptive acts or practices" to include acts that will injure or have injured the United States. It also authorizes the FTC to disclose information to foreign law enforcement agencies, as well as provide investigative assistance to them.
Essentially, this bill gives responsibility to the FTC to go beyond the United State's borders to help stop fraud, spam and spyware.
