Homeland Security Cyber and Physical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2011
Dublin Core
Title
Description
Introduced January 5, 2011, this bill amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002. If passed, the Department of Homeland Security would create an Office of Cybersecurity and Communications. Headed by the Assistant Secretary, the office would include an emergency response team, Cybersecurity Compliance Division and other elements whose primary responsibility would be on emergency, national communications and cybersecurity. The office would also provide requirements for nonmilitary and nonintelligence federal systems to be prepared, defended and able to respond and recover from cyber attacks. The Department of Defense created the U.S. Cyber Command, so the Department of Homeland Security is following suit by creating a domestic cybersecurity office.
